Commercial Interior Design Project – Breka on Denman:
Breka Bakery & Café is a family owned business that produces and serves a variety of homemade sweet and savory delights, breads, soups and coffee 24/7. The Denman St building is their 5th location and was originally a CIBC bank which still has the vaults in tacked. The were changed in an office and storage for the kitchen that produces all goods in house. For the front of house design our clients envisioned a rustic modern atmosphere that would fit into the casual nature of the neighbourhood and compliments the wholesale product offered. Whitewashed wood is laid in diagonal patterns on the back wall to conceal the bathroom doors from the seating area and large beams hang over head to fill the high ceilings and creates an intimate experience. Fresh breads and treats are displayed on a full wall of custom shelving made from wooden dowels. The overall concept is light with black accents, lots of wood and vintage style lighting. All finishes had to be extremely durable and user friendly for the extended usage and diverse client base.
